Ellie as seen in the E3 2012 Demo
|Voice Actor||Ashley Johnson|
Ellie is one of the main characters in the Sony Playstation 3 game, The Last of Us. She is voiced by Ashley Johnson. Due to her growing up in a military quarantine zone, she has grown up mentally and is very mature for her young age of fourteen. Ellie is a non-playable character, but joins as an AI for the majority of the game.
Ellie is a young orphan that grew up in a militarized quarantine zone that's used to keep the Infected away from Survivors and other humans. At the age of 14, however, she is broken out by Joel for an unspecified purpose, and they work together as companions for the remainder of the game.
She has an unexplained scar on her right eyebrow.
Being raised in an oppressive, secure area, Ellie has grown in her mental age past her physical age. As a 14 year old girl, she is extremely mature and aware of the world. She knows how to take care of herself, as seen in her AI being fully functional and independent - following Joel around, but not getting in the way and staying close behind. However, she is willing to work together and takes orders from Joel for this very reason.
Because she was born into the post-apocalyptic world of The Last of Us, she did not know any of the old world or how it was. Ellie has a strong love and obsession with ancient culture and music for this reason, and she enjoys reading books from this time to see how it once was.
Despite her harsh attitude, Ellie does have a sympathetic and good-natured side. She is seen to want to help a man who acts like he's dying during a trailer, not worrying at all about it being a trick and not understanding why Joel refuses to stop driving. However, she understands when the man calls out a group of survivors who shoot at the truck's windshield and throw objects at the car in an attempt to ruin it and scavenge whatever they can from the pair.
